Valery Sarumpaet, S.H. joined the firm as a partner in 2013 and co-founded Arkananta Vennootschap, he has a broad range of experience in corporate and commercial area of law as well as employment issues. He also practices in the areas of commercial disputes and employment dispute where he has successfully represented individuals and businesses in numerous courts, including achieving out of court settlements. Prior to joining the firm, he advised various multinational companies in the area of mining, and oil and gas. During those time, he was associated with several first tier law firms in Indonesia for more than five years, including Baker McKenzie (Indonesia). He was one of the team member who advised the Indonesian Directorate General of Tax and the then Minister of Finance in relation to the enactment of a government regulation on cost recovery in the oil and gas industry.
Back in his undergraduate days, as a law student in Parahyangan University, Valery Sarumpaet has also honed his advocacy skills in prestigious international moot court competitions. In 2005, he represented Indonesia in the Manfred Lachs International Space Law Moot Court Competition which was held in Sydney. The following year, he competed in the Phillip C. Jessup Public International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C.
