Alfin Sulaiman, S.H., M.H,Co-Founder
Alfin Sulaiman, S.H., M.H. is one of the founding partners of Arkananta Vennootschap. He focuses his practice in the area of Bankruptcy, Debt-Restructuring, Intellectual Property Right, Litigation and Arbitration, as well as providing general counselling to clients on a wide array of legal matters. Alfin has successfully restructured several larges companies with more than 1 (one) trillion debts among others PT. Merpati Nusantara Airlines (Persero); PT. Namasindo Plas; PT. Mount Dreams Indonesia; PT. Sandang Indo Pratama; PT. Cakra Sarana Persada; PT. Indo Energi Alam; PT. Energi Tata Persada; etc.
Alfin is an advisory lawyer for the shipping businessmen who are members of Indonesian National Shipowners Association (INSA). He is often involved in various legal cases that are publicly exposed such as the cancellation of company guarantee of PT. Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi, Tbk. (HIT) and successfully support the HIT restructuring process. Besides a legal practitioner, alfin as also an active writer in magazine, newspapper and online media such as Hukumonline, requisitoire, detik and some of his legal opinions are often covered by mass media. Alfin is also listed as a clinical partner of Hukumonline that often provides pro bono legal advices. Alfin has an extensive local and international network in government institutions, private sectors, businessman, conglomerates that can facilitate a fine communication in ethic conducts to settle clients legal matters.
VALERY SARUMPAET, S.H.Co-Founder
Valery Sarumpaet, S.H. joined the firm as a partner in 2013 and co-founded Arkananta Vennootschap, he has a broad range of experience in corporate and commercial area of law as well as employment issues. He also practices in the areas of commercial disputes and employment dispute where he has successfully represented individuals and businesses in numerous courts, including achieving out of court settlements.
Prior to joining the firm, he advised various multinational companies in the area of mining, and oil and gas. During those time, he was associated with several first tier law firms in Indonesia for more than five years, including Baker McKenzie (Indonesia). He was one of the team member who advised the Indonesian Directorate General of Tax and the then Minister of Finance in relation to the enactment of a government regulation on cost recovery in the oil and gas industry.
Back in his undergraduate days, as a law student in Parahyangan University, Valery Sarumpaet has also honed his advocacy skills in prestigious international moot court competitions. In 2005, he represented Indonesia in the Manfred Lachs International Space Law Moot Court Competition which was held in Sydney. The following year, he competed in the Phillip C. Jessup Public International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C.
